While the talk show host claims Trump’s re-election drove her overseas, critics are questioning whether the real reason lies closer to home—her own troubled reputation.
Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has reportedly packed her bags and fled the United States for the United Kingdom, citing a desire to escape the political fallout of Donald Trump’s re-election. But critics are raising eyebrows, asking: is Ellen running from Trump—or from her own controversies?
Once celebrated as the queen of daytime TV, Ellen’s reputation has taken a hit in recent years following allegations of workplace toxicity on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Despite an on-air apology and promises to change, insiders say Ellen never fully recovered from the backlash. With Trump securing another term, it appears Ellen has decided now is the perfect time to make a clean break—not just from politics, but perhaps from her tarnished image.
Sources close to the star say Ellen and her wife, Portia de Rossi, have purchased a luxurious mansion in the British countryside, where they plan to “start fresh.” However, some critics are calling the move a calculated retreat.
“Ellen’s been trying to rehabilitate her image, but it hasn’t been easy. This isn’t about Trump—it’s about escaping scrutiny,” claims a Hollywood insider. “The UK offers her a chance to reinvent herself without the constant glare of American tabloids.”
On social media, reactions to Ellen’s decision have been mixed, with many accusing the comedian of hypocrisy. Ellen, who has long championed values like resilience and standing up for what’s right, is now being called out for “abandoning ship” when things got tough.
One user tweeted, “Ellen spent years telling people to be kind and face their problems. Now she’s running away to the UK because she doesn’t like the election results? Give me a break.”
Another wrote, “Good riddance. Maybe she can learn what kindness really means while sipping tea in her mansion.”
While some speculate Ellen is planning a UK-based talk show to revive her career, others aren’t so sure. “The UK audience is different. They won’t just sweep her scandals under the rug,” said a PR expert. “If she thinks this move will solve everything, she’s in for a rude awakening.”
Even as she settles into her countryside estate, the question remains: is this truly a new beginning for Ellen, or just a desperate attempt to outrun her past? One thing is certain—Ellen DeGeneres may have left America, but the controversies she’s leaving behind are sure to follow.
