Fueled by Coby White’s career-tying 35 points and relentless three-point shooting, the young Bulls outlasted the Bucks in a back-and-forth battle.
Wow, the young Bulls showed they can run with the big dogs tonight, knocking off Giannis and the Bucks at a raucous Fiserv Forum. This was an old-fashioned shootout, with both teams lighting it up from downtown all night long.
Coby White was the clear offensive star for Chicago - that kid couldn't miss! Whether it was pulling up from deep or slashing to the rim, White had the Bucks defenders spinning. He finished with a career-tying 35 points, just taking over the game at times in the second half especially. Zach LaVine chipped in 25 points in a typical smooth fashion. Plus Vucevic and Giddey provided the playmaking to set the table.
As for Milwaukee, it was mostly the Giannis show as he put up a typical monster statline of 38 points, 11 boards, and 5 dimes. But no other Buck really stepped up offensively to support him besides Damian Lillard's 28 points. The Bucks' defense simply had no answers for the Bulls' long-range bombing - Chicago put on a three-point shooting clinic!
This was a tight contest throughout until a pivotal stretch in the third quarter. After five early lead changes, the Bulls reeled off seven straight points to claim the lead. Then in the fourth during a thrilling one-possession game, A.J. Green sank back-to-back threes to make it a nail-biter. But Patrick Williams countered immediately to spark a huge 13-1 Bulls run, allowing the visitors to pull away as Milwaukee ran out of gas.
What an impressive response and first win for Chicago! These young Bulls can clearly give good teams like Milwaukee all they can handle when they are this hot offensively. The defending champs have some things to clean up at the defensive end. Exciting early-season action!
